Building dignified, sustainable infrastructure for a community that built this country.

Serene Pelican Senior Welfare Trust is a registered public charitable trust established to develop community welfare infrastructure for Serene Pelican, a senior citizen retirement community in Puducherry — beginning with a Solid Waste Management facility designed to serve the wider Bahour Commune over time.

About the Trust

A dedicated vehicle for infrastructure and welfare

Serene Pelican is a non-gated senior retirement community of 288 villas in Pinnachikuppam, within Bahour Commune, Puducherry — home to approximately 350 residents who share public roads and civic infrastructure with the surrounding village fabric, rather than living behind a boundary wall.

The Trust was established in March 2026 specifically to design, fund, and construct community welfare infrastructure — starting with the Solid Waste Management facility described below. We are early in our institutional life, and transparent about that: what we can point to instead of a long track record is work already in motion, funded through our own Trustees' interest-free advances before any external request for support.

Serene Pelican Villa Owners Association (SPVOA)

Represents residents and stewards common community assets, including the Corpus Fund. Responsible for site governance and Bulk Waste Generator registration.

Serene Pelican Senior Welfare Trust

A separate, dedicated public charitable trust responsible for designing, funding, and constructing welfare infrastructure — including this project.

Current Project

A phased Solid Waste Management model

Scientific four-stream waste segregation, on-site composting, and dedicated sanitary/incontinence waste handling — a need disproportionately significant for senior residents, yet almost universally overlooked in conventional waste planning. Designed from the outset to grow outward, not stay within one community.

Phase 1

Serene Pelican

Core scope of the current project: 288 villas, approximately 350 senior residents. Full facility built here, sized with headroom for later expansion.

Phase 2

Pelican Belford

Service area extends to the neighbouring Pelican Belford community, currently around 100 residents, with new houses added as they are completed.

Phase 3

Neighbouring Villages

Coverage extends to three neighbouring villages within Bahour Commune, identified in consultation with the Commune Panchayat and Local Administration Department.
